Email a Friend Save Save Apply Now Position Summary: The Medical Assistant maintains department patient care supplies, ensures timely flow of patients, and assists physicians and nurses to provide optimal care to patients and families. Qualifications: CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA) within 30 days. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS+ Medical terminology
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures. Demonstrates compassion and caring in dealing with others. Essential Functions:+ Confirm correct patient by utilizing AIDET and two patient identifiers when rooming.
+ Perform a variety of routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
+ Maintains patient care environment and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety.
+ Collects and documents vital signs for office patients along with any needed quality metrics
+ Enters patient medical history and medication reconciliation into each patient’s medical record
+ Collects and process patient specimens correctly as directed
+ Set up procedure utilizing sterile field and use of PPE as necessary.
+ Assist physicians with office-based procedures within MA scope of practice
+ Answer patient telephone calls, create telephone encounter and forward to appropriate staff or providers.
+ Assist with supply ordering as directed.
+ Clean and stock rooms as well as review expiration dates for all supplies.
