Job Summary:

Manages multiple or complex business and engineering projects involving multiple functions, organizations, products, or value chains.

The business process owner for manufacturing execution will be responsible for establishing the process vision for manufacturing execution globally. Working with facilities around the world, this role will set strategic direction and champion change to continuously improve future state processes. The global process vision will include the recommendation of enterprise metrics, common process requirements, and multi-generation project plans to move from current to future state. The business process owner will be responsible for multiple capabilities in the manufacturing execution space as well as the collection, analytics, and visualization of data generated in manufacturing execution.

- Connect with facilities globally to understand business problems and translate into functional process and system requirements.

- Develop project scope to address business challenges and opportunities.

- Coordinate resources across the enterprise in engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and logistics.

- Oversee project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.

- Direct project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.

Education Requirement:

- Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

- Monitors major projects for critical path and actual status versus planned.

- Consults on project planning and management of high-risk, high-impact projects.

- Monitors industry for fresh approaches and tools for project management.

Team Management:

- Brings projects to closure and ensures capture of what can be learned from the experience.

- Leads the definition of team mission and objectives for a variety of teams.

- Employs appropriate techniques for maintaining team enthusiasm, energy, and focus.

- Ensures that team members are on board, unified, and moving in the same direction.

Requirements Analysis:

- Plays an active or leading role in recording and storing requirement documents in various forms.

- Ensures the successful completion of all major activities, tasks and deliverables pertaining to the requirement analysis stage.

- Supervises the advanced use of requirements analysis tools and services, including prototyping and use cases.

- Produces detailed functional and information requirements models and documentation.

- Trains others on requirements walkthroughs and quality reviews.

- Utilizes automated diagramming tools to ensure traceability of requirements.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems:

- Evaluates business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution.

- Resolves difficult or high-impact process and systems problems.

- Coaches others how to resolve integration or communications problems in multi-vendor environment.

- Applies specific techniques for isolating a problem and defining resolution approach.

- Uses advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance-related problems.

Process Design and Development:

- Develops organizational standards and processes in order to maximize complex process efficiency and effectiveness.

- Creates and introduces new techniques that expedite or simplify the development process.

- Supervises the management of multiple and diverse types of processes and capabilities.

- Develops proof-of-concept exercises to prove or disprove validity of proposed processes, systems, and technology.

- Advises on the appropriate solutions to complex process design and development problems.

- Designs working prototypes of a variety of proposed processes, systems, or technology.

Additional Information

The primary location for this position is Mossville, IL but other Caterpillar locations will be considered.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

This position may require up to 25% travel.
