Job Title: Packaging Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a Packaging Assistant to support our Machine Operators at the end of the production line. The successful candidate will handle tasks such as banding and un-banding steel coils using hand tools, packaging steel, using calipers and tape measures for verification of width and thickness, reading tape measures, feeding coils into machines, and informing operators of any visible steel defects. This position will initially train on the first shift and then move to the second shift which runs from 3 PM to 11 PM, Monday through Friday.

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Sauk Village, Illinois.

Work Environment

The work environment is a steel processing center equipped with large rolls of steel, overhead cranes, slitters, and banding machines. Precision steel coil slitting with full loop capabilities and a combination of drag pad and roll tension stands provide a camber-free product. The facility is also equipped with packing lines for quick banding and packaging of finished products. Additional machinery includes forklift operators, overhead cranes, grinders, band saws, blanking, and cut to length machines. Personal Protective Equipment required includes steel toe boots and hard hats.
