- B.S in Mechanical Engineering (or Industrial Engineering, or Aeronautical Engineering);

Duties:

- Perform HVAC design requirements VTS;

- Perform HVAC heat load calculations and guide vendors to select right compressor, inverter, evaporator, condenser, refrigerant;

- Work with HVAC vendors and develop engineering designs;

- Assists in implementing engineering changes, field modifications;

- Participate in solution of engineering related product problems (Root Cause);

- Provide technical direction to support personnel;

- Works with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods improvement, product improvements, and to support build programs;

- Executes product plans with supervisor guidance;

- Conduct HVAC design validation Cab / Battery compartments cooling tests;

- Perform air flow distribution calculations and design circulating fans;

- Perform calculations related Cab heating and develop cab heaters application;

- Releases simple parts for productions;

- Communicates information to add from internal and external customers organizations;

- Coordinate and consults with departments outside engineering such as manufacturing, purchasing, SQE team, vendors;

- Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products;

- Regular contact with others outside the work group;

- Travel as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required:

- Training in college level theoretical and applied mechanics, vibrations, fluid dynamics, physics, metallurgy, electricity, thermodynamics. Heat transfer and manufacturing techniques;

- Training in computer applications;

- Knowledge in enthalpy of refrigerant;

- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult;

- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design;

- Good oral and written communication skills;

- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others;

- Understanding of design and manufacturing processes;

- Ability to work independently and with others;

- Knowledge of TCE, UG NX, ANSYS, FLUENT engineering software’s.

Preferred:

- Previous locomotive familiarity and design experience.

ssential and Physical Activities Functions

- Strength – Position typically involves work in an office environment with occasional visits to an industrial

environment. Frequent/constant sitting. Occasional standing and walking. Occasional light to medium-

level lifting or carrying (up to 30 pounds);

- Motion – Position regularly requires standard motions associated with working in an office environment.

Depending on assigned project, position may occasionally require motions involved in an industrial working environment, including some low to intense levels of pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, reaching, grasping;

- Vision/Hearing Requirements – Frequent verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;

- Work Environment – Position is typically located in an office environment with occasional visits to an

industrial environment which may include a non-temperature-controlled environment, as well as exposure to noise (85+ decibels), occasional exposure to temperature changes, heavy machinery and other hazardous working conditions requiring the use of PPE. Position may require travel as necessary, both domestic and international;

- Emotional Demands – Very high level of responsibility. Must be able to coordinate diverse aspects of a

project. Requires significant interpersonal skills while sustaining very high standards;

- Safety – Position may occasionally require the use of Personal Protective Equipment during visits to

industrial areas.
