Job Summary
The Assistant Director for Application Development will report to the College of Education's Executive Director of Information Technology Partners at Education (ITP). As part of the ITP team, this position will lead the development of new and integrate existing technologies and data management systems in support of the instructional, research, and administrative functions of units supported by ITP.
Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership
  • Supervise and manage ITP @ Education application development team, including Council on Teacher Education (CoTE) developers.
  • Manage and monitor technology migrations of new systems as IT Partners introduces new systems to the college.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Executive Director of IT Partners and other college leadership.
  • Serve as proxy for the Executive Director, when necessary.
  • Represent IT Partners and the college on campus committees and working groups.
Application Support and Development
  • Develop applications and systems as needed to meet the needs of the College, within campus and college standard practices and frameworks.
  • Design workflows and forms that improve efficiency and effectiveness using existing systems.
  • Develop web/integration services to improve functionality, accessibility, data sharing and visualization in and/or among the various data, communications, and application systems. These systems include but are not limited to: Canvas, Zoom, Coursera, Form Builder, Kaltura, and Banner/EDW.
Project Management
  • Lead web, application, workflow management, and other IT integration project initiatives by fostering collaboration and accountability among internal and external developers, designers, communications and marketing professionals, data systems analysts, and other college staff.
  • Work and communicate effectively with college constituents to identify and meet college needs for web development, application development, workflow management, and technology systems integration.
  • Gather and define requirements for projects.
  • Manage relationship and interactions between design team members, vendors, and college web/application developers.
  • Effectively lead constituent management activities, including providing technical leadership to non-technical units.
  • Document and monitor project progress and report/present results.
Data Management and Reporting
  • Create dashboards, reports, and potential databases that support data access, security and efficiency as needed by units within the College.
  • Assist units with effective data collection and storage processes.
  • Develop and maintain datasets for utilization in customized reports and dashboards.
  • Develop and maintain data transfer processes that facilitate systemwide continuity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor' degree.
  • College course work which included Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 60 semester hours or Associate's Degree equals one year, 90-120 semester hours or Bachelor's Degree equals two (2) years. Experience with systems development and/or programming.
  • Experience in SQL programming and database maintenance using Microsoft SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio).
  • Experience with software version control (such as Git).
  • Leadership experience and training (ITLW, ITLP, MGRDev, or others), Involved in committees, subcommittees and working groups around IT related topics.
  • Four(4) years of progressively more responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT) related profession.
  • Knowledge of Illinois teacher, administrative, and school support licensure processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with University of Illinois data management systems.
  • Experience with database design and management, and data transfer processes.
  • Experience with continuous integration / continuous development (such as Git Actions or Azure DevOps).
  • Experience with .NET/MVC/C# programming frameworks.
  • Experience with systems integrations with cloud software platforms.
  • Experience writing end-user documentation.
  • Experience in Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools.
  • Experience with Software Development Lifecycle processes and tools (such as Asana).

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 7/24/2024. Salary is commensurate with experience. The minimum salary is $105,000, We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements
