Overview
Expected pay for this position is $32.87 - $38.66/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Lactation Consultant supports, teaches and assesses breastfeeding in the clinical setting and as a resource person, will be available to answer client questions regarding hospital admission, expected plan of care while hospitalized, and follow up after discharge. The Lactation Consultant will assist clients with meeting prenatal and postnatal educational needs. In addition, he/she will coordinate communication between physician offices and the Alternate Birthing Center regarding pre/postnatal educational programs and provide continuing education to staff and function as a resource person to professional and lay groups.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Licensure/Certifications * IBCLC certified * American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS and CPR.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor Degree
Experience: Two years' experience as a practicing International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Other skills/knowledge * Understanding of the principles of performance improvement, case management, discharge planning, utilization review, and medical records Understands of the basics workings of JCAHO, DRG's, Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care.
