Position Summary

The Senior Associate Athletic Director reports to the Deputy AD/Chief Operating Officer and serves as a member of the Athletics Executive Cabinet engaged in strategic planning and resource allocation. The position leads capital projects for the department.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Supervise all athletics facilities functions, daily operations, game day and special events, and related personnel.
2. Provide unit leadership, personnel oversight, and ongoing professional development for facilities and operations staff.
3. Lead all capital planning and projects for athletics facilities.
4. Serve as a sport administrator for assigned sports; partner with head coach(es) to help advance towards achievement of team and departmental goals.
5. Schedule use of all athletics facilities by department, university, and third-party users; maintain and coordinate master athletics facilities schedule.
6. Direct and supervise operations for all athletics game day and special events; coordinate with external operations staff to ensure high-quality guest experience at all events.
7. Oversee grounds and sports turf maintenance; coordinate with athletics staff, university personnel, and third-party vendors as needed.
8. Develop and implement operational policies and procedures; manage seven-figure unit budget and ensure compliance with applicable business policies; ensure timely completion of required departmental, institutional, state, and related paperwork.
9. Oversee security for athletics facilities and events, working collaboratively with UIC Police and third-party vendors.
10. Oversee the daily cleaning of athletics facilities and game day venues by managing the department's relationship with university custodial services.
11. Develop and implement deferred and routine maintenance plans for all athletics and shared use facilities, working within allocated budgets; oversee and coordinate work of third-party contractors.
12. Coordinate scheduling and facility rentals for private sports camps and clinics and third-party rentals; partner with athletic business office to ensure timely invoicing, payment, and contract administration.
13. Develop and coordinate submission of bids for conference and postseason hosting opportunities for athletics teams.
14. Develop and manage a team of student employees to assist in successful execution of unit responsibilities.
15. Liaison to university committees and working groups related to facilities use, space planning, capital projects, campus safety, and related areas.
16. Develop and implement credential systems for athletics and special events.
17. Adhere to all NCAA, Conference, and University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures.
18. Perform other related Departmental duties, as assigned.
