Hourly Position
Requirements: Must hold a Kentucky Experienced Underground Miner Certification. KY Electrical Card is preferred. Two (2) years of experience as a belt mechanic required. Must have ability to perform weekly maintenance and preventive maintenance on underground belts. Must be willing to work any shift and weekends and holidays as necessary.
Reports to: Mine Foreman
The essential functions of this position were determined to be not limited to:
1. Maintain and repair belt headers, starting boxes and substations and belt lines underground.
2. Maintenance of belt headers and belt lines may include:
a. Clearing faults and restarting belts when they go down.
b. Making mechanical splices.
c. Changing bad or damaged rollers.
d. Replacing take-up ropes.
e. Trouble shoot electrical problems (pilot line, motors, vfd drives, take up pumps, water sprays, etc.)
f. Repair water lines as needed.
g. Clean spills and accumulations as needed.
h. Check tail pieces after belt lays to ensure compliance.
Work Objectives: Maintain and repair beltlines safely and efficiently.
Work Schedule: Miners will work five (5) days, Monday through Friday. Periodically, miners will be required to work a sixth (6th) day on Saturday. Must be willing to work any shift.
Position Summary: Employee must be able to lift 50 to 100 pounds regularly. Use Various hand tools including hammers, wrenches, knives, etc. as required. Work closely with others in a team effort.
