Job Description
Essential Functions35% Under general direction, serves an Application Development Programmer/Analyst for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) supporting the Department of Corrections (DOC).
- Analyzes, designs, codes, tests, implements, documents and maintains client-server and web-based applications and subsequent enhancements, utilizing the following in performance of duties: PowerBuilder, Microsoft SQL Server (SQL, SSIS, SSRS), C#, VB.Net, SharePoint, Microsoft Visual Studio IDE, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Fetch XML, Power Apps, Microsoft Azure DevOps, and enterprise-level, relational databases.
- Develops applications and components utilizing PowerBuilder IDE, Microsoft Visual Studio IDE, SharePoint, and/or Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
- Develops and maintains data objects within an enterprise-level relational database utilizing MS SQL 2008+ and/or other relational DBMS.
- Develops system documentation, program specifications, audit trails, edits, and control procedures.
- Utilizes Windows 10 or higher OS, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Visio for communication, reporting, presentation, etc. purposes.
30% Assists users in resolving problem areas encountered in the daily operation and use of client-server and web-based applications.
- Analyzes user requirements, hardware/software problems and user/staff procedures.
- Analyzes, defines and evaluates problems of an operational or procedural nature.
- Codes, tests, and implements software solutions.
- Suggests procedural changes and software enhancements to improve system efficiency and accuracy.
15% Conducts feasibility studies.
- Conducts studies involving technical research and systems analysis of agency functions addressing the record-keeping, security, reporting, and specialized needs involved in managing incarcerated individuals.
- Conducts studies for system conversions and enhancements.
10% Evaluates user information technology needs and analyzes alternative approaches.
- Meets with users internally and at external facilities to discuss, address, review and analyze application technology needs, issues, etc.
- Presents technical information to others with clarity and precision.
- Prepares reports for supervisory and user review, using Word and Excel.
5% Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field.
- Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques and procedures.
- Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.
5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
