Job Overview:

The Creative Services Copywriter is responsible for creating compelling, original short and long-form copy across various marketing channels: outdoor, print, TV, radio, direct mail, collateral, websites, emails, apps, social media, and video to promote Wind Creek Hospitality’s entire portfolio of casinos, hotels, racetracks, restaurants, and entertainment centers. Qualified applicants must possess a portfolio of work demonstrating strong copywriting skills, emphasizing the necessary creativity to craft compelling headlines and call-to-action direct marketing materials.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all work is of the highest quality and maintains our commitment to delivering our brand values by creating messaging that motivates behavior through disruptive ideas at all points of contact
  • Works closely with graphic designers, video & animation specialists, internal stakeholders, and external agency partners as a collaborator on assigned accounts to produce effective advertising materials
  • Assures completeness of projects from initial submission through final copy and art to meet deadlines
  • Participates in department and internal customer meetings as appropriate
  • Contributes to and supports company brand standards as specified within the corporate brand standards manual
  • Works on multiple, eclectic projects simultaneously
  • Reviews all copy for accuracy, consistency, grammar, and adherence to brand standards
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

Job Requirements: (please ensure you meet the listed requirements prior to applying)

  • High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within 6 months from start date as a condition of continued employment
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising, Creative Writing, Marketing, Communications or Related Field– required
  • Three (3) years’ experience in an advertising or marketing environment– required
  • Three (3) years’ experience writing advertising copy– required
  • Possess a portfolio that demonstrates experience in writing copy for television, radio, newspaper, outdoor and print that supports tactical, brand and promotional campaigns at a regional and/or national level
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstration of branding and conceptual development
  • Must be an active listener who can understand and respond to internal customer feedback and internal critiques from multiple sources
  • Creatively articulates advertising solutions across all relevant communication platforms
  • Must be a conceptual thinker who can execute ideas in an efficient, organized way, sticking to established guidelines and templates when necessary, but also thinking outside the box to create fresh, compelling messages that deliver results
  • Must be able to understand operational documents, creative briefs, and intake forms, then proactively ask questions and seek information to glean salient points and translate them into a final piece that is logical, straightforward, and easy to understand.
  • Willing and able to work odd or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required
  • Must have an Occupational License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) pursuant to the Illinois Gaming Act and remain in good standing with the Illinois Gaming Board as a requirement for this position
