The Role

This is an exciting time to join the Lumen Family. To continue to meet the challenges of the evolving security landscape, Lumen is seeking a Vice President/Deputy Chief Security Officer for our Federal and Enterprise Customers. Reporting to our Corporate Chief Security Officer, the Deputy Chief Security Officer has responsibility for all Federal and Enterprise Customer compliance requirements. This includes identifying security obligations for new business and existing contracts as well as implementing/maintaining necessary global certifications (CMMC, SOC, PCI, etc.), Authority to Operate (ATO), and regulatory obligations. In addition, you will serve as a focal point for developing/maintaining security trust with customers throughout the procurement process with a strong emphasis on Lumen’s Federal market. The ideal candidate will have an extensive Federal Government experience, have an active or ability to obtain a Top Secret level clearance, and have the ability to clearly articulate security visions and strategies.

This is a work-from-home opening, ideally in the DC/VA area but will consider candidates across the United States.

The Main Responsibilities

- Responsible for developing and maintaining security intake for all new Federal and Enterprise business including compliance and resourcing impacts

- Participate with Customer Facing organizations for entry into SLED, Federal Civilian, DoD, and Intel agencies

- Use market relationships from previous experience to introduce and position Lumen

- Develop, implement, and monitor a strategic, comprehensive enterprise information security program to satisfy contractual requirements and beyond

- Guide Lumen Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams in delivering offerings that will comply with federal and state regulations

- Participate in revenue generating strategies including go-to-market, M&As, and market penetration

- Work directly with the corporate IT, Security, and Operations organizations to translate implications of federal and state regulations into business impact

- Develop and enhance an information security compliance framework

- Understand and interact with related disciplines through committees to ensure the consistent application of policies and standards across all technology projects, systems, and services

- Guide our Public Sector sales teams in developing unique solutions and offerings for customer requirements

- Partner with business stakeholders across Lumen to raise awareness of risk management concerns

- Assist with the overall business technology planning, providing current knowledge and future vision of security implications to technology and systems

- Represent Lumen in public events, trade shows, customer meetings, and other events as necessary

What We Look For in a Candidate

+ Master’s Degree in information Technology, Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university and 15 years of direct work experience reflecting demonstrated ability is required – additional years of experience and certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree

+ Significant experience in supporting Cyber Security for Federal customers including Splunk Technologies

+ Understanding of Federal Information System Management Act (FISMA) reporting, NITS and Technology (NIST), Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), DOE 200 series, and DOE Departmental policies

+ Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret SCI clearance

+ Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities

+ Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee’s primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$167580 – $279300 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.

$176400 – $294000 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.

$185220 – $308700 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.

$194040 – $323400 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that’s based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
