About this role

We built the simplest and most reliable screen recorder in the world, but that’s only the beginning. Our near future is full of ambitious new goals, features, and products that will enable us to further improve how we provide service to our users and accelerate our already fast growth. ?

We are looking for a Director of Finance to join our growing Finance function. The Director of Finance will be a key member of the management team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting, financial planning, and analysis. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, excellent financial acumen, and the ability to manage and develop a small team. The Director will work closely with other department heads to support the company’s growth and financial health. This position supervises a Controller, Staff Accountant, AR Associate, and seasonal support teams.

What you’ll do:

Financial Leadership:

+ Provide strategic financial leadership and direction for the company.

+ Partner with the executive team to develop and implement financial strategies that support the company’s goals and objectives.

Accounting Management:

+ Oversee all accounting operations and ownership of general ledger, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month end close, and payroll.

+ Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.

+ Supervise and mentor the accounting team.

Financial Planning & Analysis:

+ Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including variance analysis and reporting.

+ Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making.

+ Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to drive business performance.

Internal Controls & Compliance:

+ Establish and maintain robust internal controls and processes to safeguard company assets.

+ Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.

+ Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.

+ Manage sales tax collection, remittance, and reporting.

Business Partnering:

+ Collaborate with department heads to provide financial insights and support for operational decision-making.

+ Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes and systems.

+ Support fundraising and investor relations activities as needed.

Requirements

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred.

+ Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial planning & analysis, in a SaaS or technology company.

+ Proven experience in a leadership role with the ability to manage and develop a team.

+ Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

+ Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.

+ Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Excel; experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and financial planning tools (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Anaplan) is a plus.

+ Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.

+ High level of integrity and professionalism.

This is a Chicago-based hybrid position with 3 days a week in the office.
