A Robert Half client in the manufacturing sector, located in Chicago, is seeking an HR Director. In this role, you will be responsible for providing strategic advice and hands-on support related to all aspects of people management and compensation within the organization. You will play a key role in the development and implementation of HR policies, programs, and procedures and will work closely with leaders of various functional areas to establish collaborative business relationships. This position offers a hybrid work schedule: 4 days onsite, and 1 day remote.

Responsibilities:

+ Manage and oversee projects focused on improving internal HR processes, conducting performance reviews, administering compensation programs (such as bonuses and annual salary reviews), enhancing employee experience, and onboarding new hires.

+ Spearhead policy improvements and updates, including the creation, implementation, and revision of the employee handbook.

+ Contribute to the strategy, design, execution, and oversight of internal compensation programs.

+ Supervise the selection and administration of vendors for various HR-related services as required.

+ Conduct research and collaborate with external legal counsel to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, and recommend updates to company policies or procedures.

+ Serve as a resource for employee relations investigations as necessary.

+ Develop and/or provide guidance on change management and communication strategies within HR and in coordination with business units.

+ Offer strategic insights and support to the Chief Human Resources Officer and COO aiding in the creation of presentations, program development, and process enhancements.

Requirements

Requirements:

+ Over 5 years of experience in HR operations management

+ Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or a related field

+ Experience in a compensation role, including the implementation of compensation programs and structures

+ Proven track record of implementing new HR policies and procedures

+ Experience in managing employee relations and conducting HR investigations

+ Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws and regulations

+ High attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information with integrity

+ Flexibility and adaptability to a changing environment

+ Ability to navigate ambiguity and a lack of structure effectively

+ Preferred certifications: PHR/SHRM-CP
