PROJECT COORDINATOR
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
Number of Positions: 1
(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)
Starting Salary: $71,004; Grade B-14

This position is open to the public and all current city employees covered under the City’s Collective Bargaining Agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) – BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

This position assists the program management of CDOT’s Federal/State/Local funded projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Assists the program management of CDOT’s Federal/state/local funded projects.
· Tracks relevant project information and ensures compliance with FHWA and IDOT requirements including State obligations and federal authorization timelines, invoice workflow and tracks various lists and project close-out requirements
· Coordinates and works with other city departments and external agencies on projects
· Serves a project or program supervisor, overseeing staff and work operations to ensure established goals and objectives are met
· Develops and implements operating policies and procedures to ensure the effectiveness of program operations
· Plans work schedules and priorities for project activities
· Participates in preparing project or program operating budgets and monitors budget expenditures
· Designs, implements, and monitors procedures utilized in program evaluation
· Audits and approves contractor and consultant vouchers for payment
· Acts as a liaison with City departments, public and private agencies, and business organizations to secure commitments in providing services to program participants
· Sharing program information and obtaining additional funding support
· Monitors and provides direction to consultants engaged in administering program activities
· Prepares narrative and statistical program status reports
· Attends community, civic and business organization meetings to promote department programs or citywide initiatives

Location : 2 North LaSalle Street, Ste 1100
Hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Social Sciences, Planning or a related field, supplemented by three years of experience in program administration, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires applicants to complete an interview which will include a written exercise as part of the interview. A skills exercise may also be administered as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
· Previous experience using Microsoft Office Software
· Previous experience working with federal projects in construction engineering
· Previous work experience in using oracle
· Previous experience in construction management
