Number of Positions: 1

(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)

Starting Salary: $71,004

This position is open to the public and all current City employees covered under the City’s collective bargaining agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) – BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

This position coordinates circulation operations for the department of Collections, Content and Access. The department’s operational areas include customer service, circulation, patron records, item creation, distribution of Holds materials, and materials movement

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Assists Executive, Senior, staff systemwide and patrons with Circulation Policy and Procedure issues.

· Maintain circulation system, troubleshoot software and recommend functionality changes to improve patron experience and staff access.

· Assist with departmental communications and keeping website up to date.

· Serve as a liaison for reciprocal libraries and outside agencies.

· Assists in system-wide development of policies and procedures.

· Responds to patron inquiries and concerns.

· Assists in updating and training staff on current CPL policies and procedures.

· Participates in departmental leadership meetings.

· Participates in staff development activities.

· Compile and organize circulation statistics and reports.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Location: 400 S. State St.

Days: Monday-Friday

Hours: 9 am to 5pm

THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Social Sciences, Planning or a related field, supplemented by three years of progressively responsible experience in program administration, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.

NOTE:

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position based on the oral parts of the interview will be selected.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

· Previous supervisory experience related to the responsibilities of position.

· Previous experience working in a library.

· Previous project management experience.

· Previous experience working with Integrated Library Systems.

· Previous experience with conflict resolution.
