Description: Our client in Bolingbrook, IL is looking for a Network Technician to join their team!
This technician will be responsible for walking another technician through a series of steps in order to remove/add hardware components from the network rack within various locations. The technician will be performing the physical labor to swap out Meraki network hardware and replace with Cato hardware.Job Description: Mandatory skills
o Attention to detail
o Network-device-based understanding (as opposed to technicians who are portal and administration based):
o Experience with Switches
o Experience with SD-Wan Firewall Devices
o Experience with APs
o Hands-on experience installing/moving devices within a rack:
o Have they ever unracked or racked network devices?
o Have they ever dealt with patch panels and cable management?
o Any overall experience with cleaning anything
o Knowing the difference between the different type of power devices e.g., “PDU, battery backup, UPS”
o Identifying all types of devices that could be in a network rack e.g., “Switch-based KVM, server, networking equipment”
o Subnetting and IP schema awareness and troubleshooting:
o Know the difference between subnets.
o Experience with devices communicating through VLANs.
o Fundamentally understanding how subnetting works and how devices need to be configured to work within a VLAN
o Identifying firewall rules that would apply to VLAN traffic
o Fundamental understanding of DNS

o Network portal experience: Examples: Juniper, Fortinet, Ubiquity, SonicWall, etc. o Hands-on experience installing/moving devices within a rack o Experience with SwitchesAdditional Skills & Qualifications:
o CCNA or similar network certificate
o Experience with using SSH to remotely connect to a switch.
o Familiar / Comfortable issuing “show” type commands into a switch and understand the output.
o Aruba or Cato Portal experience / Meraki Portal experience
o Network portal experience: Examples: Juniper, Fortinet, Ubiquity, SonicWall, etc.
o Experience in Debugging or troubleshooting networks and PCs:
o Examples: TraceRT/FlushDNS/IPConfig/Ping/ARP/NSLookup/GPupdate
o Experience with static IPs and configuring devices to a network.
o Experience with wireless networks and getting devices on Wi-Fi.
o Experience with packet tracing
o Basic Scripting:
o Comfortable understanding basic scripting languages with PowerShell being the focus.
