Momence Packing Company Safety Manager Momence, IL Position Overview: To help the Momence facilityreach our goal to be the "Best Company in the World", a successful candidate will strategically plan, direct, and lead the implementation of safety programs and guidelines through member ownership. Responsibilities:
- Create the "safest" company in the world through continuous improvement, ownership, member engagement, and drive
- Lead the facility safety effort through the creation, implementation and direction of processes and programs to meet operational needs while maintaining and managing safety compliance to world class safety standards
- Lead, design and implement environmental management systems to monitor and mitigate the environmental impact of the organization's activities and ensure all organizational processes meet the required standards
- Oversee adherence to safety policies performing regular audits and addressing instances of non-compliance; compile detailed and comprehensive reports and maintain meticulous records as mandated by law
- Serves as the emergency response coordinator and works in conjunction with emergency services to conduct a thorough investigation of incidents to determine the root causes and preventive measures
- Facilitate safety education and training throughout the membership and during meetings making safety part of day-to-day activities, while inserting safety into every related process of our business
- Lead efforts to create and maintain a safety culture that leverages member ownership, involvement, and personal accountability
- Take an active role in the Corporate Safety Leadership team and facilitate the sharing of ideas between facilities at the corporate level (incorporate Johnsonville programs into Momence Packingpractices)
- Actively participate as a member of the Momence Core Team
- Facilitate the safety team to lead and ensure compliance with all governmental safety regulations, procedures, guidelines and best practices
- Develop and lead efforts on the attainment of all safety key performance indicators
- Lead safety compliance evaluations for facility specific requirements
- Manage Workers Compensation Claims and Property Insurance recommendations.
- Actively participate in continuous learning to grow knowledge and skills through classes, webcasts/seminars, OSHA compliance trainings
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree required - safety emphasis preferred
Experience:
- 5 years of experience leading safety in a manufacturing environment preferred

- Proven leadership qualities in developing teams around safety, getting work done through others, meeting timelines, facilitating change and holding themselves and others accountable for safety results
- Proven track record of driving ownership to others and creating a "safety first" culture.
