Job Summary
Support undergraduate and graduate admissions by coordinating open houses, recruiting events, and audition days, as well as assisting with music specific conventions and conferences. This position will also support community engagement efforts through creation and coordination of marketing and promotional materials, supporting the Illinois Summer Youth Music camp, assisting with the alumni magazine, and producing a monthly newsletter.

Duties & Responsibilities

Admissions, Enrollment, & Engagement
  • Assist Director of Admissions with enrollment management, recruiting activities, merit-based financial aid, and engagement programs (School of Music Open Houses, off-site recruiting events, etc.).
  • Working with the Admissions Director, schedule and coordinate on-campus activities such as audition days, tours of music facilities, Quad Day activities, and other campus recruiting efforts and activities.
  • Assist with off-campus recruiting efforts at music-specific conventions and conferences throughout the state and nationally.
  • Primary contact and logistics coordinator for Illinois Summer Youth Music (ISYM) year-round.
Promotion & Marketing
  • Assist Director of Public Engagement with promotion and marketing, including all print, electronic, and social media.
  • Manage and coordinate promotion materials for the School of Music, including photography, banners, exhibit booth materials, updating the website, etc.
  • Assist the editor of sonorities (School of Music alumni magazine) with content and production as needed.
  • Produce and oversee weekly and monthly bulletins in addition to a new monthly eNewsletter.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in music, arts administration, marketing, communications, or field related to the position.
  • A total of 1 year (12 months) of work experience in student recruitment, admissions, marketing, communications, arts, or related environment.
    • Masters degree in music, arts administration, marketing, communication, or field related to the position may be substituted for 1 year of work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with social media platforms including but not limited to text, image, and/or video.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in music, arts administration, marketing, communication, or related field(s).
  • Broad knowledge of music and programs of study offered by the School of Music and the University.
  • Previous experience and/or education in music recruiting activities.
  • Previous attendance at music conferences and/or conventions.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to engage with constituents from a variety of backgrounds such as prospective students, parents, and/or educators.
  • Able to use standard software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.).
Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 8/16/2024. The annual salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000 with final salary determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
