A Sr. Mechanical Engineer position is currently available at Belcan in Rockford, Illinois. This is a full-time job, on-site/possible hybrid, direct job with benefits. To be considered, you will need an Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar and a minimum of ten years of experience in project engineering, mechanical engineering, and/or mechanical design roles. The successful candidate will lead investigations to determine required repair of product returned from the field. Determine project schedule to meet the program milestones. Drive action item closure, including coordination within organization. Write engineering changes, deviations, and repair recommendations as required. Drive failure investigations and root cause analyses. Autonomy is expected. Products are cutting-edge military and commercial aerospace products including fuel pumps, air turbine starters and blowers, engine and air frame gearboxes, and lube and scavenge pumps.

Job Duties:
* Primary role is to lead investigations to assess condition of returned product and to determine the required repair.
* Write engineering changes, deviations and dispositioning of damaged components.
* Write test plans as necessary to determine root cause.
* Special projects like REACH
* Works independently and as part of a cross-functional engineering team ensuring work is completed on-time, within quality standards, per specifications and contracts, and within budget constraints.

Qualifications:
* Experience with precision products.
* Experience with root cause investigations.
* Project management and leadership skills.
* Experience with complex engineering drawings and product test procedures.
* Strong presentation skills
* Experience with engineering changes, deviations and dispositioning of damaged components. Experience with estimating budgets and schedules.
* 10 years of experience in Project Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Design roles.
* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
* Experience with a 3D CAD Software preferably Siemens NX
* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to prioritize and balance multiple assignments
* Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required

Desired but not required skills:
* Previous mechanical engineering experience in the aerospace field.
* Experience with Microsoft Project.

Compensation:
We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $100,000 to $115,000. Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
