Job Summary
The Behavioral Health Training Coordinator designs, develops, selects, delivers, monitors, and evaluates training and education, implementing Behavioral Health learning strategies to promote health, well-being, and equity. The Behavioral Health Training Coordinator will incorporate recovery principles for Behavioral Health consumers of care.
This position is grant funded until November 30, 2026
Typical Duties
*Collaborates with stakeholders, including the Organizational and Workforce Development Department, to prioritize workforce needs based on input from the community and providers.
*Plans, implements, and evaluates Behavioral Health education initiatives aimed at improving healthcare access and equity, developing best practices for co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions, building a comprehensive suicide prevention program, honoring lived experience in employment, creating trauma-informed systems of care, decreasing stigma, and increasing prevention and early intervention efforts.
*Works with various CCH behavioral health programs to develop internship and trainee programs, supporting the growth of future professionals.
*Designs, develops, or selects, monitors, assigns, tracks, and evaluates CCH behavioral health employee training courses and learning content.
*Coordinates the production of educational materials and develops and maintains learning materials, including job aids, to be added to the CCH Learning Management System (LMS).
*Trains staff to identify, prevent, and de-escalate crises, as well as on behavioral health best practices.
*Writes up learning paths and course overviews to be uploaded onto the CCH Learning Management System to enable enrollment and record-keeping
*Creates communications needed for each course or program and sets up training with other departments for behavioral health staff, such as BLS and learning how to take vital signs.
*Collaborates to develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure staff adherence after training.
*Coaches others in the development of performance improvement activities for behavioral health care quality, with an emphasis on process design and measurement.
*Performs administrative duties related to responsibilities and attends staff meetings and current training sessions for professional skill development.
*Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
*Master's degree from an accredited college or university is required (Official transcript is due at the time of interview)
*Independent behavioral health license (i.e., LCPC, LPC, LCSW, LSW, RN, etc.) is required
*One (1) year of working with Behavioral Health clients/patients is required
*One (1) year of Staff Training in a general hospital or behavioral health setting is required
*Must be willing to become a Crisis Prevention Instructor (CPI) instructor to train CCH staff at multiple locations is required
*Must be willing to become a Psychological First Aid Instructor to train CCH staff at multiple locations is required

Preferred Qualifications
*Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, or closely related field is preferred (Official transcript is due at the time of interview)
*Working knowledge of principles of behavioral health, including Serious Mental Illness and program development is preferred
*Experience creating training materials and designing training curricula is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
*Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of staff and a patient population composed of diverse cultures and age groups
*Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
*Able to manage group dynamics in a training environment.
*Coordinates activities and projects.
*Operates with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
*Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
*Able to deliver training across multiple modalities, both in person and virtually and settings throughout Cook County and CCH
*Knowledge of adult learning principles.
