As part of Medical Affairs, the Medical Science Outcomes Liaison Associate Director (MSOL-AD) interacts with key medical experts (KMEs), prominent healthcare providers (HCPs), dialysis organizations (DOs), and other large population-based decision-making organized customer groups (PBDM OCGs) in the US. The MSOL-AD's primary function is field-focused, through scientific exchange that translates Akebia HEOR and clinical information into relevant scientific value-based discussions for KMEs, HCPs, and PBDM OCGs. The MSOL-AD supports Akebia's commitment to engage healthcare professionals, patients, advocacy groups, professional societies, and other large PBDM OCGs.
The MSOL-AD strategically supports collaborations with KMEs as well as key PBDM OCG external stakeholders as expert in clinical and health outcomes research as it relates to Akebia's research-related therapeutic areas.
In partnership with multiple internal stakeholders, the MSOL-AD aids in developing short and long-term strategies to integrate and advance the communication and needs of the CKD outcomes research community. The MSOL-AD contributes to development of medical plans, including medical communications and publications, HEOR, and advocacy. The MSOL-AD assists in providing outcomes research expertise to market access, marketing, legal and regulatory functions for marketed products and drugs in development.
The individual must have the ability to:
Develop, maintain, and improve reliable engagement with both national and regional KMEs, HCPs. and PBDMs.
Identify, build, and develop professional peer-to-peer relationships with KMEs, market access customers and other prominent HCPs in relation to marketed and pipeline Akebia products.
Conduct medical/scientific exchange with KMEs, clinical investigators and other prominent HCPs, to collect competitive intelligence and insights with subsequent communication of relevant insights to internal stakeholders for the purpose of strategy development.
Communicate HEOR and clinical information to all assigned accounts based on MSOL understanding of the different medical and business needs of various customer segments.
Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries from KMEs, HCPs, clinical investigators, healthcare systems/academic medical centers and population health decision makers in a compliant manner that clearly communicates scientific data to meet customer needs.
Collaborate with Research and Development to compliantly support KME identification, interactions, or clinical trial support.
Effectively support medical affairs communications, publications, and training.
Closely follow all Akebia compliance policies, demonstrating high integrity and a commitment to ethical behaviours.
Understand medical and business strategy to develop and execute integral medical and outcomes plans that support overall company goals.
All proposed strategies and projects developed must be approved by appropriate review committees before implementation.
The MSOL will:
Serve as medical lead for assigned territory KMEs/HCPs as well as assigned regional accounts and other identified healthcare organizations.
Develop and maintain credible and independent engagements with key medical, pharmacy, quality & health economics/outcomes/analytics opinion leaders within assigned accounts.
Effectively align product, therapeutic area, and disease state strategies with KMEs, HCPs, and PBDM OCG customer focused scientific and medical objectives.
Provide timely clinical, economic, and scientific product updates in response to unsolicited requests per standard operating procedure (including Dossier and Portfolio presentations) for Scientific Formulary decision making.
Develop strategic medical partnerships related to clinical, evidence-based and disease management/health outcome initiatives.
