SUMMARY

Researches and recommends improvements to the distribution center processes for continuous improvement. Responsible for applying engineering principles, work standards and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve the distribution center processes.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions as defined by the ADA, except those that begin with the word 'may".)

Recommend measures to improve production methods and equipment performance.

Suggests changes in ergonomics and set up methods to increase efficiency. Evaluate processes to ensure the most efficient sequence of assembling orders and ensuring work is done in a safe manner.

Supervise hourly maintenance group to optimize Distribution Maintenance functions.

Develop appropriate request summaries (AR) for machinery. Perform time studies and assist in the development, coordination, and installation of capital projects.

Participate in annual plan and strategy development for projects. Assist in cost modeling for new and existing capital projects.

Communicate with machine developers and builders on new and refurbish/rebuild existing equipment.

Review proposal (RFP) and develop specs for equipment and writes equipment capability acceptance procedure (ECAP) for vendor or manufacturer.

Requisitions replacement parts for equipment.

Coordinates outside contract repair and maintenance services on specialized machinery.

Draw diagrams on BricsCAD of production layout including equipment and other warehouse production areas.

Work with Finance to develop the labor and material estimates with special equipment requirement for new business.

Develop work instructions, standard operating procedures, and presentation models.

Follows EHS rules and regulations and suggests ways for continual improvement.

Promptly reports quality problems, personal injuries, and unsafe conditions.

Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

 

 

 


COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Reflects reading, analytical, interpersonal, and other knowledge levels, skills and abilities required to perform the duties of the job. For example:

BS in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or Supply Chain Management

Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of ergonomics.

Knowledge of the principles of Constraint Management and 5S.

Knowledge of packaging processes and equipment.

Writes business correspondence, technical specifications, RFP's, capital requests, requisitions, etc.

Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information with a variety of employees and vendors.

Understands customer packaging and labeling requirements.

Knows how to calculate labor and packaging cost.

System knowledge; Microsoft Office, SAP, BricsCAD, Manhattan

Project Management. Guides and directs a team toward a common goal.

Presents information to groups.

Analytical abilities necessary to plan and prioritize work, complete work on schedule and maintain required logs and records.

Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
