UI Health is seeking a Healthcare Administrator I (Privacy Analyst) to join our Health Information Management Department/Privacy Office. This role provides support to the Privacy Program at UI Hospital. The individual in this position will assist the Privacy Office administration with privacy audits, investigations, complaints, requests, and inquiries. The Privacy Analyst will prepare reports and analysis of Privacy Office activities for internal and external reporting. It will serve as the lead auditor of access to ePHI and participate in risk assessment activities for HIPAA Privacy at UI Hospital.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Design and conduct audits of access to the electronic health record (EHR), analyze results, and identify possible instances of inappropriate access or use of the EHR.
Administer an enterprise-wide application capable of auditing access to applications processing ePHI.
Design and implement databases using Microsoft Access and other database tools. Develop the means to create automated reports that provide metrics of operational effectiveness.
Act as an expert in managing patient health information/medical records, administering computer information systems, collecting, and analyzing patient data, and using classification systems and medical terminology.
Conduct data analysis to determine trending of privacy risks.
Process and follow up on requests for amendments to medical records, requests for accounting of disclosures and restrictions, requests for MyChart proxy access and requests for opt-out from health information exchanges. Prepare and send privacy forms to patients as needed.
Assist in the development of privacy communications to promote awareness to all hospital and clinic users.
Participate in the HIPAA Privacy risk assessments by collecting and reporting information using checklist, surveys, etc.
Assist with investigations on privacy and Red Flag Rule complaints at the hospital and clinics.
Interact with all levels of an organization - clinical, financial, administrative, and information systems - that employ patient data in decision-making and everyday operations.
Other duties as assigned.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

A. college course work leading to a major in hospital administration, health administration, or business administration, or similar area of study
