Role Purpose

The Maintenance Technician is a critical role in our blending/packaging operations in Sycamore, IL. They are required to maintain and repair a variety of production and plant facility equipment, and assist the manager with ordering parts, standardizing components, and maintaining repair parts inventory.

 

3rd Shift Hours: 9:30 pm - 6:00 am

Pay range: $23.04 - $36 hourly (based on experience)

 

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting manufacturing production equipment including, operating machine tools, chemical processing assembly, and packaging equipment according to production specifications, schedules, volume/cost/wastage targets, and quality standards.  

We will look to you for support with:

 

Disassembling equipment, diagnosing issues, rebuilding, and replacing defective parts such as motors, gear boxes, bearings, and electrical components.

 

Performing repairs on blenders, fillers, conveyors, and other production equipment.

 

Performing regular checks on building equipment such as pumps, valves, chillers, compressors, and power systems as required.

 

Performing repairs and calibrating electronic instruments such as sensors, controls, scales, metal detectors.

 

Working with outside contractors

 

You will work closely with other departments such as the process engineers, and production operators, and quality control, and report directly to the maintenance manager.  

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on site. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust. In addition, this job also operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; work from heights, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move products ranging from 30 to 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability see color and adjust focus.

 

Qualifications

Highschool diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required

1 - 2 years of manufacturing maintenance or proficiency in an industrial maintenance program that includes electrical coursework (preferred)

Blueprint reading skills

Computer skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Forklift operating skills and must complete on-site training and skills testing

Good understanding of proper use of tools and equipment
