Overview

For Students enrolled in OSF School of Histotechnology.
This is an education stipend opportunity. Upon completion of OSF School of Histotechnology's program, education stipend recipients will enter as a Histology Technician/Histology Technologist, at OSF HealthCare.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for preparing and staining tissue specimens for microscopic examination and diagnosis by a Pathologist. In doing so, performs high complexity and/or non-routine histology procedures requiring independent technical assessment of assay performance. Position is responsible for technical operation of specialized histological assays including training, education and continued quality improvement of the high complexity procedures. Position will lead and direct the optimization and validation of new laboratory equipment in accordance with applicable regulatory accrediting agencies. Position will assist with the technical oversight and directing of routine histology procedures in order to ensure high quality, diagnostic throughput. Additionally, positon will be required to participate in the onsite NACCLS accredited School of Histology by ways of lecturing, providing educational resources or directing student clinical training. Position requires attention to detail, technical expertise of the chemical rationale of the assays performed and the analytic skills required to remedy any technical difficulties encountered with high complexity histology assays.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Must be enrolled in OSF School of Histotechnology
