Job Description

Summary: 

Responsible for the overall supervision of the accounting personnel in accordance with company policies and procedures. Responsible for providing accounting services for the corporation and maintaining its financial records in compliance with all federal, state, local and professional requirements. Ensure smooth operation in the areas of costing, purchasing, accounts payable/receivable, accrual accounting, capital justifications and fixed assets. Provides leadership through job training, problem solving and mentoring of all employees in the department. Will work with manufacturing on continuous improvement projects and have budget accountability in areas of control.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise employees in accordance with company policies and procedures through delegating daily assignments, inspecting progress of workers’ assignments, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Provide primary leadership in training and coaching employees in the department, providing new hire instruction and training in areas of work methods, company policy, procedures, and related process topics.
  • Responsible for conducting timely employee performance reviews, progressive discipline, work assignments, vacation scheduling, overtime, and back-up.
  • Develop and maintain an effective department through the selection, training, compensation, motivation, termination, and review of department employees.
  • Develop and maintain accounting systems and procedures for the corporation by maintaining books of accounts, cash figures and related matters. 
  • Oversee month end close process, prepare monthly financial reports, balance sheet, cash flow, income statement analysis and preparation of annual budget.
  • Meets accounting financial standards by monitoring expenditures, identifying variances to management, and implementing corrective actions, if necessary.
  • Maintain records for fixed assets, depreciation, etc.
  • Oversees cost analysis and recommends process improvements for cost-effectiveness.
  • Supervise staff to ensure accurate inventory valuation on the balance sheet and accurate cost of goods sold and cost of goods manufactured on the income statement.
  • Develop and maintain purchasing systems, inventory systems, and procedures for the corporation.
  • Assess production requirements on a weekly/monthly/quarterly cycle based on the sales forecast and address purchasing requirements for all raw materials against defined budgets.
  • Implement continuous improvement focused on purchasing efficiencies, production volume and cost savings negotiation.
  • Establish and provide purchasing metrics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
