Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Patient Financial Counseling provides onsite, operational and strategic leadership to plan, direct, evaluate and continuously improve patient financial service functions. The Assistant Director of Financial Case Management will report to the Director of Patient Financial Clearance, who reports to the Associate Chief Financial Officer. This position has administrative responsibilities for financial counseling operations within its scope and activities involving services rendered at UI Hospital. Those activities include financial counseling for both hospitals and professional services. In executing these responsibilities, the Assistant Director works across the organization to deliver the best possible patient financial experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

Develops the strategies, objectives, goals, policies and procedures for the department.
Implements necessary measures to achieve these stated objectives and goals, following through to ensure that objectives are met or exceeded.
Manage escalations, identify trends and deficiencies and initiate corrective action to resolve.
Monitor and interpret entity-specific reports related to department performance, staff performance and financial performance, ensuring appropriate action plans are executed.
Supports Leadership in key governance processes, e.g., payor authorization compliance, access benchmarking, revenue cycle optimization, etc. with identification and resolution on complex priorities and challenges.

Creates the vision for and provides organizational leadership of the Financial Counseling department in support of UI Health organizational goals and strategies.
Develops and administers a fiscally responsible department budget consistent with the department's goals, objectives, and performance improvement plans.
Establishing, deploying, and enforcing financial clearance standards that ensure regulatory compliance, patient safety, financial integrity, and timely, efficient, and equitable patient access.
