Job Description

The Database Developer supports the New Sterilization Technologies department in the Matrix of Compatibility project, by leading the development of a relational database that seeks to enhance Sterigenics Business Intelligence.

The goal for the Matrix of Compatibility is to organize and develop internal knowledge around end products, materials, and sterilization technology compatibility to better support our clients, find efficiencies within existing and potential new practices as well as inform commercial decisions.

The person in this role will serve as focal point for the stakeholders involved in the project, being responsible for designing and implementing the database in ways that ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and management as well as supports the future scalability of the platform. To do this, project management principles and tools will need to be utilized to create efficient and effective project timelines, which will be implemented to maximize project turnaround and increase stakeholder satisfaction.

Maintaining open and transparent communication with the R&D team will be critical in building trust, ensuring accountability, and driving continuous improvement in project processes and outcomes. A crucial part of the job will be to understand the business requirements and translate them into technical specifications (e.g., understanding the data requirements and structuring the database accordingly)

The environment the person operates in, will be one of close collaboration across multiple departments within Sterigenics such as IT, EH&S, operations, engineering, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Database design and development
    • Identify required IT infrastructure.
    • Design the database schema, detailing the description, value type, and other attributes of the data contents.
    • Map out the System Requirements Specifications (SRS), outlining the functional and non-functional requirements for developing the database.
    • Identify the operational and functional requirements, including user types and their characteristics.
    • Support development modules of database
  • Project Management
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve system issues promptly.
    • Develop a plan for the database development, including resources needed, timeline and costs.
    • Transparency, Accountability & Risk Management


EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree or in the final year of study in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.


EXPERIENCE & SKILL REQUIRED:

  • Good organization and communication skills
  • R&D minded
