Job Description Summary

 

The SVP Head of Credit is responsible for assisting with creating and implementing strategy. Being a source of financial and industry knowledge for department members. Working direct with clients (insurance agents) to create customized financing solutions for complex policies and competitive situations. Organizing and offering classes to internal employees on the topics of Financial Statements, Insurance, and Premium Finance concepts. Working closely with inside sales team and executive team, with in person face-to-face discussions, to problem solve and collaborate on business workflows and individual loan decisions.

 

What Youll Do

  • Developing and administering underwriting guidelines that include both risk and profit strategies.
  • Continually monitoring market conditions and adjusting strategies accordingly.
  • Providing approval rates, terms, and exposures on loan proposals.
  • Coordinating and managing business flow with inside sales department.
  • Recommending rates, terms, and exposure on quotes for loans above set quoting authority to reduce time spent by senior executives making assessments in a way that improves profit and mitigates risk.
  • Assisting Inside Sales staff with complex math, financial statement and knowledge questions, technical questions, insurance knowledge.
  • Participating in team discussions and understanding the inside sales process critical. Collaborative and impromptu discussions regularly occur
  • Manage and develop the credit team and foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Support development and understanding of credit within larger organization.
  • Evaluating efficiencies within the department to identify and recommend areas for improvement in close collaboration with other departments.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Background/Experience

  • 10+ years experience in a leadership position within the credit department of a financial institution or finance company
  • Active Insurance License preferred or advanced knowledge of insurance policy language & terms
