The Opportunity

Abbott has an immediate opening for a Global Procurement Manager supporting the Telecom and IT Networking categories including but not limited to leading and implementing category strategy for enterprise voice, data, and mobility solutions as well as all IT Network services. Partner with business stakeholders to define and implement category strategy and drive “One Abbott Procurement” vision and priorities.

The role is based in Abbott Park, IL and the responsibilities include:

+ Primary point of contact for category needs. Nurture stakeholder relationships by serving as a business partner, helping identify critical business requirements and providing sourcing and procurement services that meet expectations.

+ Influence business strategy and translate business strategy into aligned category strategy, programs, and projects.

+ Proactively identify areas of opportunity for new business opportunities, process improvement, and cost efficiencies.

+ Develop flexible and dynamic supplier network. Manage relations with key suppliers, provides insight to how to best develop and leverage supplier capabilities to meet business needs and mitigate risks.

+ Ensure optimal balance between value for money and cost savings is achieved, while ensuring quality and excellent customer service.

+ Monitor market dynamics for category globally.

+ Foster a collaborative environment among stakeholders.

+ Ability to assess the overall needs of select business units, build up sourcing plan and negotiate an accepted portfolio meeting the most strategic needs of the category.

+ Measure and track performance of the category. Drive the business to achieve best in class performance.

+ Partner and collaborate with procurement staff to support cross divisional business initiatives.

+ Lead initiatives that span virtual multi-national teams across all regions.

+ Mentor, train and develop talent as a leader within procurement.

+ Protect and elevate the Abbott brand.

What You’ll Work On

+ Primary point of contact for category needs as a business partner for Business Technology Services (BTS) leadership team.

+ Provide support and guidance by identifying critical business requirements and providing sourcing and procurement services that meet expectations.

+ Drive Total Cost of Ownership reductions for category through data analysis and strategic sourcing tools.

+ Create, implement, manage, and maintain successful sourcing strategies withing area of responsibility.

+ Develop plans and deliver results in fast changing businesses environments.

+ Lead projects/initiatives that have significant impact upon global business.

+ Prepare sourcing plan which will include strategic initiatives and contract negotiations to secure expected level of savings delivery.

+ Mange cross-functional, cross-regional teams in strategic sourcing activities to deliver best solution for company.

+ Support company sustainability and diversity programs

+ Constantly monitor market dynamic and bring to discussion with BTS innovative solutions.

+ Maintain list of preferred vendors and agreed level of spend via approved category channels.

+ Anticipates internal/external business challenges and drives changes.

+ Proactively identify areas of opportunity for new business opportunities, process improvement, and cost efficiencies.

+ Provides insight to how to best develop and leverage supplier capabilities to meet business needs.

+ Own and implement agreed upon purchasing strategies. Foster a collaborative environment among stakeholders.

+ Measure and track performance of the category. Drive the business to achieve best in class performance.

+ Partner and collaborate with procurement staff to support cross divisional business initiatives.

Required Qualifications and Education:

Minimum Requirements:

+ Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ year track record within procurement and/or deep category experience

+ Experience in global IT Procurement space preferred in Telecom and IT Networking

+ Experience developing and implementing category strategy leading to year-over-year KPI improvement (e.g., cost savings, growing diversity spend, etc.)

+ Experience managing and engaging with senior stakeholders cultivating good relationships.

+ Strong influence, project management, change management and negotiating skills.

+ Strong Supplier management and contracting skills

Preferred Requirements:

+ Master’s degree preferred. Relevant certification desirable (e.g., CPSM, CPM, PMP)

+ Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

+ Experience managing and negotiating with Tier-1 Telecom and Global Network Suppliers like AT&T and Verizon.

+ Experience using SAP Ariba software.

+ Good organizational skills, including program/project management governance.

+ Global experience and knowledge of global markets

+ Relevant business process knowledge, as related to procurement and category management.

+ Extensive knowledge of category technologies and products.

+ Experience leading teams – both with direct staff and indirect project teams.

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
