Job Description
Description We are on the lookout for a proficient Supply Chain Planner to join our team in the machinery manufacturing industry, located in Hazel Crest, Illinois. As a Supply Chain Planner, your focus will be on managing the logistics of heavy equipment delivery, optimizing delivery efficiency, and ensuring customer satisfaction. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Arrange and manage the logistics for the delivery of heavy equipment to customers using haul trucks.
- Standardize the machine shipment process by developing efficient shipment layouts.
- Ensure on-time delivery by planning and scheduling truck routes.
- Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to prioritize equipment for shipment.
- Negotiate rates and secure transportation capacity while ensuring compliance with safety regulations as a liaison with freight carriers and logistics partners.
- Oversee the loading and unloading of heavy equipment onto trucks, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Develop and maintain relationships with trucking companies to secure reliable and cost-effective transportation services.
- Proactively monitor and track shipments in transit, providing regular updates to internal stakeholders and customers.
- Resolve any transportation-related issues or delays that may arise during the delivery process.
- Ensure accurate processing of invoices related to transportation expenses.
- Create detailed reports for shipments, analyzing data to optimize transportation efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Arrange and track shipments, including preparing shipping documentation, scheduling pickups, and monitoring transit progress.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, including tracking numbers, delivery dates, and transportation costs.
- Leverage all opportunities and partnerships to achieve optimum pricing and efficiencies while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. Requirements – Must possess expertise in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
- Proficiency in using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions is required
- Demonstrated ability in KPI Reporting
- Previous experience in a machinery manufacturing environment is essential
- Strong knowledge of logistics and supply chain processes is required
- Excellent customer service skills are needed
- Experience in material planning is a must
- Proven ability in planning and development within a manufacturing context
- Ability to navigate and manage ERP – Enterprise Resource Planning systems efficiently
- Must be capable of working effectively in a team and independently
- Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required
- A degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is necessary.
