Field Research Specialist (Margenot Lab) - ISEEInstitute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment
Job Summary
This position will support the on-farm research and outreach program of the Soils Lab work on agroecosystem sustainability via iSEE on multiple interdisciplinary projects focused on nutrient, water and soil management and conservation. The individual is expected to work closely with other field-based personnel in the Margenot group in iSEE and related organization units on funded projects, and with Illinois agricultural stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities
- (1) coordination with farmers for on-farm research and data collection
- (2) developing farmer-facing and policymaker-targeted synopses of multiple projects (updates and final outcomes)
- (3) field data collection at on-farm sites
- 4) delivering virtual and in-person outreach events
- (5) supporting the writing of manuscripts of on-farm research and outreach across multiple iSEE projects
Master's degree by date of hire in a relevant scientific field such as Crop Sciences, Agriculture, Plant Biology, etc. Previous experience with data collection and analysis is required. This may include academic experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Evidence of consistent use of good judgment, discretion, and tactful communication. Energy and enthusiasm for expressing the value of diverse cultures, fostering empathy, and improving organizations in the areas of access and representation. Knowledge and experience with office software and ability to learn custom systems. Ability to handle multiple priorities without direct supervision. Excellent oral and written communications skills.
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after closing date. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. The salary range starts at $45,000.
