The University of Illinois is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Budget Operations and Analysis in the Office of the Provost. This Assistant Director supports the effective use of campus financial resources by performing functions related to the reporting and analysis of the financial condition of campus units, as well as budget operations and maintenance for the University.

Duties & Responsibilities

Budget operations, maintenance, and analysis-
• Serve as a resource to the Executive Associate and Assistant Provosts for Budget and Resource Planning and other campus leadership in areas related to budget, finance, strategic planning, and resource allocation in order to inform decision making.

• Provide budget and financial oversight, including review and analysis of operating budgets for various units to ensure control, accuracy and compliance with University policies and procedures and appropriateness of funding levels.

• Support the budget preparation process and consolidation of the annual operating budget for the Urbana-Champaign campus.

• Develop and prepare special financial statements and reports (narrative, graphical, and statistical) in response to ad hoc and other data requests to be used by campus leadership in decision-making.

• Analyze and prepare reports and financial statements pertaining to tuition and income funds, state and institutional fund reconciliations, and indirect cost and administrative overhead recoveries.

• Prepare tuition and miscellaneous revenue forecasts for administration. These forecasts determine tuition flow to college units throughout campus, as well as aid in future planning for the University.

• Project the central investment in student financial aid for each fiscal year.

• Oversee the campus-wide deficit reduction process. Review and analyze unit deficit reduction plans.

• In collaboration with Academic Units, the Office of Planning and Budgeting, and the Registrar's Office, prepare the tuition rates item for UIUC for the Board of Trustees each academic year.

• Participate in the ongoing budget operations and support systems of the campus, under the direction of the Assistant Provost/Director of Budget Operations.

• Serve as college contact and resource to college-level budget officers to improve financial literacy in units across campus.

• Serve on campus and/or University committees as assigned including SFAC and TPAC student fee committees.

Liaison-
• Serve as liaison on fiscal activities of the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics, which reports to the Chancellor, and the Auxiliary Units, which reports to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.

Other Duties-
• Coordinate the flow of information to a wide range of administrative offices.

• Other related duties appropriate for an Assistant Director of Budget Operations and Analysis.

Position Qualifications

Required-

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.

• Five (5) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience within the University of Illinois System.

Preferred-

• Master's degree in a relevant field.

Successful candidates will have the following-

• Effective analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills required.

• Exceptional data analytical skills.

• Strong technical computer skills necessary to analyze, research and maintain detailed financial data and develop various management information documents.

• Ability to understand and communicate the broader issues and implications of his/her assignments to a variety of customers.

• Familiarity with a variety of data retrieval tools.

• Skilled with the use of spreadsheets.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5010 - Business/Administrative Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after after the close of the search. Minimum salary for this position is $85,000. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements. Work authorization sponsorship is not available for this position.
