Role Summary
Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) is seeking a Direct Indexing (DI) Lead Product Strategist focused on developing and nurturing the Direct Indexing business, which represents well over $100 billion in assets and has been a core competency of the firm for over 30 years. The Product Strategist will serve as the primary investment strategist for financial Intermediaries prospects, clients and internal sales partners and collaborate with the portfolio management resources of the firm. Through successful external engagements, this role is critical to growing and expanding NTAM's Direct Indexing business.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain robust product knowledge of NTAM's Direct Indexing capabilities and our competitive peers
- Maintain real time portfolio/strategy/platform knowledge of DI
- Maintain a high level of prospect/client engagement and respond to external and internal partner and client inquiries
- Be viewed/used as the first point of contact for internal sales and service partners
- Become an expert user of NTAM's client advisor portal and support prospect questions
- Own content supporting RFPs, pitchbooks, etc. and coordinate with key partners including Marketing, Product, Distribution, and Investment Teams to ensure high quality and timely delivery of collateral
- Stay abreast of markets and trends impacting NTAM DI capabilities and clients across segments including client objectives, flows, competitor insights
- Develop and promote thought leadership in support of the business
- Support innovation through continued feedback from the market
- Serve as a voice of the client for ongoing product development and execution
Necessary Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 10 years of asset management industry experience that has provided exposure to Investment, Product, and Sales teams
- Strong knowledge of Direct Indexing equity SMAs and tax benefits of the structure
- Strong knowledge of the Direct Indexing competitive landscape and product features offered by competitors
- Strong knowledge of financial intermediaries including RIAs and Wealth Management firms
- Experience with breaking down sophisticated product features into clear and concise stories to communicate to clients
- Ability to think strategically, collaborate productively, and problem-solve effectively
- Experience developing and contributing to the development of high quality content such as presentations, research papers, market commentary, RFPs, and value-added responses to client inquiries
- Bachelor's degree required; relevant post-graduate work is preferred (such as MBA or CFA)
- Series 7 and 63 licenses required (or obtained within 90 days of employment)
- Strong analytical skills including experience using financial systems and data, Microsoft Office suite (advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills)
- Strong writing and presentation skills
Salary Range:
$137,400 - $185,500
