Position Summary
Employee Assistance Clinician (EAC) serves as a member of the clinical team of the University Health Service (UHS). The EAC provides clinical support services for all employees of the University of Illinois at Chicago campus community. The EAC is accountable for responding to UIC employee psychosocial needs via assessment, 1:1 encounters, care planning, resource identification and follow up. Where indicated, EAC coordinates care with members of the UHS clinical team to address employee impairment via assessment, coordination of appropriate treatment, ongoing case management and support to promote successful return to work.
The EAC is accountable for coordinating and facilitating psychosocial services across the micro/mezzo/macro levels of the UIC environment continuum for UIC employees including faculty and staff. The continuum environment includes individual employees
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide short term individual counseling services/psychotherapy to UIC employees, faculty, staff and their immediate family members where appropriate.
Participate in the development and delivery of wellness programs targeted toward medical personnel. Topics should include stress management, work/life balance and resiliency.
Conduct assessments to identify presenting issues, client self-articulated goals, psychosocial risk factors and specific care needs. Create and implement a plan/approaches to address objectives and goals as identified during the assessment.
Identify and supply appropriate managed care and/or community resources and referrals to optimize psychosocial services.
Perform appropriate follow up contacts to enhance client access to care.
Collaborate with clinical personnel at University Health Service in conducting fitness for duty assessments.
Participate in case management activities for employees who require ongoing monitoring and support.
Provide supportive counseling to facilitate return to work for employees after long absences.
Conduct post critical incident support as requested by academic departments and hospital units.
