Overview

 

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking a Radcon Supervisor.

 


Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities Include:
Provide oversight of Radiological Control activities and function as a safety observer, reporting potential problems to both facility management and Safety to provide a safe work environment for all employees.
Evaluate and interpret data collected from Technicians and monitoring equipment to provide a radiological hazard-free/controlled work environment and to detect abnormal trends indicating developing problems. Review radiological survey reports and Electronic Logs for proper content and completion.
Schedule the daily activities of Technicians to maintain the Radiation Protection Program and standards and to support facility operation and production schedules. Obtain/provide additional coverage when needed and available. Monitor performance and provides feedback to RCT/HPT.
Ensure the proper application, location and operability of radiological monitoring and counting equipment. Assist the facility to identify and obtain new or upgraded equipment to meet upcoming needs.
Provide on-the-job training for upgrading, qualifying and requalifying RCT/HPT, both with their facility and from other facilities. Training may range from classroom to practical hands-on experience.
Review all work activities to ensure application of ALARA principles for each project and track individual exposures of facility personnel to help distribute radiation dose and prevent overexposure.
Maintain cognizance of changing research programs to implement required aspects of the radiological control program. Provide input to Radiological Engineers on technical and operating procedures that control radiological work, and approve RWPs. Assist Radiological Engineering with facility management and programs for review of procedures, work packages and equipment modifications to ensure proper radiological controls to ensure the facility will be in compliance with radiation protection requirements.
Maintain Emergency Response qualifications and report to the ATR Emergency Action Manager during emergencies.
Communicate with DOE and other regulatory agencies on radiological issues and requests for information on facility operations.

 


Desired Qualifications

 

Baccalaureate plus 3 years relevant experience or 13 years relevant experience in radiation protection in lieu of degree.
