Job Description

Description We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Sr. Tax Accountant. This role is based in Northbrook, Illinois and is open to individuals with a strong background in tax accounting, in-depth knowledge of tax law, and expertise in various accounting software programs.

Responsibilities:

- Assisting in the preparation and completion of corporate and individual tax returns

- Conducting comprehensive research on tax laws and regulations to determine tax liabilities

- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations

- Providing support documentation during tax audits

- Working towards gathering data for state or federal tax audits

- Assisting with tax preparation and research

- Utilizing accounting/tax software programs effectively

- Handling sales/use tax, payroll taxes, federal & state corporate income taxes

- Understanding and implementing tax compliance policies and procedures

- Leveraging general accounting skills such as journal entries and trial balance. Requirements – Proficient in Trial Balance and various Accounting Functions

- Experience with QuickBooks and CCH ProSystem Fx software

- Demonstrated skills in Tax Preparation and Tax Audits

- Knowledge of Income Tax Compliance and Corporate Tax Compliance

- Understanding of Tax Law and its application in accounting

- Ability to work effectively in a team and also independently

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities

- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field

- detail oriented certification such as CPA is a plus

- Relevant work experience in a similar role is preferred.
