Zurich North America is currently hiring a Sr. Enterprise Architect to work in a hybrid schedule at our Schaumburg North America HQ and will report to the Technical Director of Enterprise Architecture within the Advanced Technology & Enterprise Solutions team.

The Sr. Enterprise Architect a highly visible and influential role who will collaborate with IT as well as business stakeholders to deliver business value and improved outcomesby leading business, integration and technology architecture and ensure alignment with IT strategy and business objectives. The Sr. Enterprise Architect maintains a global view to ensure IT projects deliver both functional and enterprise value and are woven seamlessly into the overall business and technology landscape.

Duties and responsibilities:

+ Facilitate business and IT alignment and drive the business towards its targeted outcomes by interpreting business challenges, and leading business & IT capability analyses to understand current state, detect critical gaps and opportunities, and recommend architectural solutions

+ Collaborate across organizational boundaries to drive trade-off discussions, facilitate informed decision making and risk anticipation, and drive mitigation via well-researched and robust IT solutions

+ Maintain alignment, integration, and coordination of architecture activities across different programs, projects and products as they evolve over time.

+ Lead PoC/PoT of new technology solutions to evaluate solutions that are fit-for-purpose & aligned to ZNA IT strategy

+ Work closely with IT partners and business to define end-to-end Solution Architecture using system engineering concepts and data integration patterns like APIs, event-driven architecture, ETL etc., across diverse cloud platforms like Azure/AWS PaaS, SaaS and Vendor solutions while leveraging cloud native services where possible; Drive business and IT adoption of technology solutions, including AI/ML, DevOps, IoT, OCR, Cloud, RPA, etc.

+ Develop and apply minimal viable architectures, which can include a set of standards, reference architecture patterns, principles, and guardrails

+ Evaluate and recommend COTS software solutions to support business process including integration with proprietary/legacy systems.

+ Collaborate with infrastructure teams, Group EA team and Security team to ensure consistency with the enterprise architecture, as well as to identify when it is vital to modify the enterprise architecture.

+ Lead analysis of the technology landscape rationalization by identifying business and IT capability gaps, evaluating technical debt, and recommending solutions towards cost optimization, improved operations, and solution sustainability

+ Effectively manage stakeholder expectations and achieve buy-in of complex concepts through timely and high-quality verbal/written communication

+ Manage, mentor, and provide architectural guidance across the organization by communicating the value of Enterprise Architecture, service offering, and instilling architectural and design thinking approaches

Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelors Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area OR

+ High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area AND

+ IT Strategy

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Knowledge of Insurance industry

+ 5+ years of experience in roles creating architecture and strategy, performing business analysis or experience as an Enterprise Architect

+ 5+ years of experience as IT Business Architect or Solutions Architect role preferably with experience in large business process or organizational change initiatives.

+ Working knowledge of Salesforce, Guidewire PolicyCenter and Underwriting Management and low-code platform like Mendix, Innoveo

+ Exposure in mobile architecture and development

+ Masters degree preferred
