Job Description:

Following a hybrid work model out of our global headquarters in Chicago, IL (USA), the Finance & Planning Specialist will be responsible for Global Communications (GC) departmental and project-based finances. This role will ensure accounting information is recorded accurately and timely while providing insights for process improvements. Primary focus will be across three main areas – departmental finance support, project accounting and meeting & event revenue recognition.

Departmental Finance Support Responsibilities:

+ Provide general financial guidance and support to GC while developing subject-matter expertise of McDonald’s financial systems and policies.

+ Lead departmental education and compliance training on topics including, but not limited to, budget management, invoice processing, records retention, and expense reporting.

+ Conduct monthly review of departmental spend to ensure expenses are properly recorded and prepare journal entry recodes, as needed.

+ Work with GBS Finance to process departmental invoices and check receipts.

+ Develop departmental reporting by compiling data from various systems.

+ Identify and implement improvements to GC financial processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Project Accounting Responsibilities:

+ Responsible for project spend and chargebacks while ensuring proper accounting treatment for project-related deposits and accruals.

+ Track project-related spend from various sources including Beeline, manual invoices, iExpense and other internal sources.

+ Develop strong working relationships with GBS Finance to ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices and proper vendor set-up.

+ Work closely with the Creative Ops team to reconcile and internally charge back all projects on a timely basis.

+ Oversee the year-end closeout process to ensure all costs are recorded in the proper period and all project billings are complete.

Meeting & Event Revenue Recognition:

+ Reconcile credit card revenue related to meeting and event registration.

+ Reconcile the Meetings & Events bank account against registration and credit card reports to ensure meeting revenue is properly recorded.

+ Prepare journal entries to reimburse the meeting owner for registration revenue collected.

+ Work with Global Treasury and Cashless teams to manage department merchant accounts.

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance is required.

+ 2+ years of previous accounting experience is required.

+ Advanced-level skills with Microsoft Office Suite.

+ Exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, customer service and teamwork skills.

+ Previous experience collaborating with various stakeholders, both within a corporate finance or accounting environment and cross-functionally.
