This is a salaried exempt position.

Position Summary:

ADM is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead our Modeling Capability, overseeing a team of engineers and interns, ensuring project success, and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.

The process and financial modelers are a dynamic and innovative team within the Research Process Development Group (RPDG), dedicated to delivering industry-leading solutions through advanced process and financial modeling. Our work supports various functions, including R&D, existing operations, and new business development, aiming to evaluate new technologies, optimize existing manufacturing processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

+ Advancement of Modeling Capability

+ Plan and execute on optimizing modeling capabilities to meet R&D and project objectives by exploring and implementing new technologies to enhance modeling capabilities and improve productivity and by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities in modeling processes and technologies.

+ Stakeholder Engagement

+ Cultivate strong, professional relationships with internal stakeholders, including plant personnel and R&D leaders, and external partners such as vendors and universities.

+ Serve as a go-to resource for modeling support, providing ongoing training and support to users and customers, and actively promote modeling capabilities to facilitate knowledge sharing among colleagues.

+ Strategic Planning and Execution

+ Work collaboratively with SME’s to develop standard models in Aspen and Excel, facilitating fast turnaround of project estimates and ensuring consistency.

+ Collaborate with equipment vendors to provide training on equipment and inform modeling best practices.

+ Develop and maintain a plan to address capability and competency gaps and opportunities in process and financial modeling across R&D, engineering, and plant resources.

+ Resource Allocation and People Management

+ Manage modeling resourcing for all projects, defining clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations and ensure modeling work follows standard processes.

+ Maintain appropriate staffing levels and competencies for project pipeline.

Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related field (advanced degree preferred).

+ 10+ years of relevant experience

+ Extensive experience in process engineering, project engineering and process and financial modeling, preferably in a research or development environment in agricultural, human and animal nutrition, and/or biofuels and bioproducts processing.

+ Proficiency in chemical process simulation software including Aspen Plus and Aspen Capital Cost Estimator, as well as spreadsheet based/Excel tools, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.

+ Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to effectively allocate resources and drive project success.

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.

+ Proven track record of fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

+ Experience in leading a team of professionals through talent management and development, including recruiting, training, and performance evaluation.
