Job Description

Purpose:

The Associate Director, Tax is a key leadership role and is responsible for the preparation, review and filing of the federal tax return. Additionally, the Associate Director, Tax has responsibility for the preparation and review of the domestic tax provision and responsibility for responding to IRS requests. The Associate Director, Tax will be a key contact with the business units in responding to and providing guidance relative to federal income tax matters, and lead various cross-collaboration projects.

Responsibilities:

+ Responsible for the preparation, review, and filing of federal income tax returns

+ Responsible for the preparation and review of the domestic quarterly and annual tax provision, including ability to interact with external auditors

+ Responsible for the preparation and review of responses to IRS inquiries, and ability to interact with the IRS

+ Proactively research complex tax issues and provide interpretation and application of tax law to specific transactions and factual situations

+ Ability to analyze legislative changes and determine impact to AbbVie

+ Provide effective leadership and development of fellow team members

+ Ability to interface with tax leadership, external tax advisors, and lead projects to enhance department efficiency and work well with business unit leaders

+ Apply highly advanced tax knowledge to support business needs. Considered an expert in the field and acts as an advisor to management.

Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required

+ 5+ years of tax experience in National Big Four Accounting Firm or a Fortune 100 company

+ 10+ years related tax experience beyond Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree

+ Public Accounting or Fortune 500 Corporate Tax experience preferred

+ CPA and/or MST a plus

Experience in a corporate tax department is desirable
