About the Department
The Department of Pathology has a long and rich history of excellence in clinical service, training, and research. Our physicians and scientists are experts in a variety of subspecialties in anatomic pathology, laboratory medicine, genomics and molecular pathology, investigational pathology, and immunology. Our diverse faculty study and diagnose patient disease and medical conditions using state-of-the-art methodologies. This at-will position is wholly or partially funded by contractual grant funding which is renewed under provisions set by the grantor of the contract. Employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these grant funds and satisfactory job performance.
Job Summary
As a Research Specialist, you will perform research focused on computational models of biological systems, using imaging data or drug testing data. As an integral member of the team, you may also collaborate with other laboratories and faculty members as well as with other research scientists at various levels of training within the home laboratory.
Responsibilities
- Provides technical and administrative support for a research project.
- Collects and enters data. Assists in analyzing data. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
- Assists with the installation, sets up and performs analysis of data; interacting with students and other laboratory staff under the direction of the principal investigator.
- May assist recruiting and scheduling research subjects; assisting with developing or amending study protocols; assisting with developing data collection tools; assisting with building databases; and providing general administrative support. Is developing skills in research techniques or methods, regulatory policies and procedures, and relevant scientific field.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).
