Job Description

The Highlights:
The Coordinator of Performance & Library coordinates instrumental ensemble library-related functions and provides overall administrative support in key areas of concert program design/production and performance/recital logistics for the Music Performance Department. This person works independently to ensure performance documents, which represent a large portion of the School of Music's public-facing communications, are produced according to deadline and without errors or delays.

What You'll Do:
Instrumental Ensemble Librarian:
In consultation with faculty ensemble directors, coordinates all communication and ordering for music required by large instrumental ensembles (including Jazz Studies and Choral areas) and chamber ensembles from vendors and rental agencies; traffics related contracts, purchasing documentation, and invoicing to Director of Administration and Financial Services as needed. Researches and procures (through Business office) all music required and related contracts by instrumental ensembles from vendors and rental agencies.
Communicates and coordinates library-related activities of the ensembles as directed by the ensemble directors and/or their staff.
Responsible for the oversight and organization of library operations, including distribution of parts to ensembles in a timely manner, storage and cataloging of University-owned music, and receiving/return of rental score and parts.
Responsible for hiring, training, and supervision of student librarians (including Jazz) and student library coordinator to accomplish above duties.
Create and manage new roster system for Classical Instrumental Large ensembles. Track large classical instrumental ensemble absence requests.
Oversee Ensemble Assistant.
Performance Coordination:
Designs concert programs for all non-main-stage School of Music performances, including coordinating program content
Oversees 4-5 student employees in ensemble library, including grad or senior level general coordinator and students assigned to ensembles; supervises 1 student to assist with tasks and clerical work relating to Performance.

 

What You'll Need:
Undergraduate music degree required. Ensemble library experience preferred.
Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and planning skills required.
Acute attention to detail, ability to mentor students in specialized instrumental library setting, and delegation skills are a must.
Advanced skills in desktop publishing on a Mac or PC platform.
Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign.
Position requires ability to manage artistic temperament.
Must be self-reliant and able to meet tight deadlines.
Experience with event logistics preferred.
Ability to work independently and make routine judgement calls about printed content is critical.
Occasional necessity to communicate and coordinate on evenings and weekends. Attend select concerts/events on weekends or evenings.
