Job Summary
Under the direct supervision from a designated supervisor, to serve meals to patrons. All University Housing staff will engage and contribute to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within University Housing.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Set up tables with clean linens and silverware and arranges condiments.
  • Takes patrons' orders and places dishes before them in accepted manner.
  • Assists in clearing and resetting tables.
  • Arranges service stands with needed equipment and supplies.
  • Fills water glasses and pours beverages for patrons.
  • Prepares simple salads and dishes up serving of dessert.
  • Computes amount of each check.
  • Makes collections and change.
  • Gives oral instructions to others as delegated.
  • Exercises good judgement when dealing with Dining Service staff, students and customers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Additional Physical Demands
    Physical Demands: The position involves some lifting, bending, remaining in a stationary position as well as in motion for periods during shift. Long hours are necessary during certain times of the year.

    Working Conditions: The work is mostly performed in a kitchen, meeting rooms, dining rooms, and various campus locations. Some work may be performed out-doors in various campus locations. There may be some discomfort in low temperature areas and high temperature areas.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    Appointment Information

    This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 4191 - Waiter/Waitress position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after posting close date. This is a bargained position and as such, the salary is driven by the collective bargaining agreement. The entry-level salary for Waitstaff is $15.03 per hour.
