College of Applied Health Sciences

The College of Applied Health Sciences (AHS) (http://www.ahs.illinois.edu) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is searching for an Undergraduate Recruiter to join our Undergraduate Affairs Office. The Undergraduate Recruiter will provide leadership in undergraduate student recruitment, the management of recruitment and outreach events and perform marketing and communication skills that will facilitate the enrollment goals of the College.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for developing enrollment from all prospective student populations (first-year, transfer, and pathway programs) across the college; publicizing and promoting programs using a variety of methods; developing and coordinating activities related to recruitment of undergraduate students for enrollment in the College of Applied Health Sciences.
  • Oversee the day-to-day planning and operations of campus visits to the College and AHS Departments. Conduct informational presentations and tours for prospective and admitted students and their parents and accurately respond to questions from these groups related to AHS academic programs and admission to these programs. Communicate with prospective and admitted students via email, text, and telephone. Schedule and execute one-on-one visits as needed.
  • Develop recruitment and yield materials, and a recruitment communications plan, including email, letters, postcards, social media, telephone, texting, and website communications. Work collaboratively with the AHS Marketing and Communications and campus-level Enrollment Management teams to develop and deploy these materials.
  • Lead the recruitment and yield efforts for the college by working with the departments and academic advisors with the goal of growing overall student enrollment. Communicate with department heads and directors of undergraduate study about disciplinary trends relevant to their degree programs and formulate recruitment approaches based on future directions in their fields. Collaborate with the Assistant Dean and the Mannie L. Jackson Illinois Academic Enrichment and Leadership Program (I-LEAP) and others related to recruitment efforts of underrepresented students. Serve as the AHS representative at campus and university level events involvement outreach, recruitment, and yield.
  • Develop strong relationships with college alumni, current student groups, Office of Undergraduate Admissions and college recruiters in planning and implement events to recruit students. Identify and develop opportunities to build relationships with institutions of education and other organizations in the State of Illinois to maintain and increase undergraduate application volume.
  • Engage in purposeful discussion with the Assistant Dean, advisors and other college and campus personnel to ensure on-going assessment of the effectiveness of AHS recruitment efforts. Assess impact of activities, review data reports, and utilize information in planning and decision-making.
  • Provide strategic leadership for undergraduate recruitment, including but not limited to, planning of AHS outreach activities such as summer campus, student organization outreach events and departmental outreach. Coordinate the AHS Fall Welcome for new students as part of the New Student Welcome Week program.
  • Assume additional appropriately related academic duties as assigned to further the mission of AHS academic programs (e.g., marketing of graduate programs and undergraduate minors to prospective student groups). Coordinate the AHS presence at the annual campus majors and minors fair.
  • Travel throughout the State of Illinois will be required. Must be able to travel to various geographic locations in Illinois and out of state as required to conduct recruitment events and cultivate strong relationships with high schools and community colleges.
Additional Physical Demands
Typical office environment, some lifting of materials, travel around campus and off-campus, some work outside of business hours is required. Ability to travel alone to recruitment events required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Demonstrated experience in sales, outreach, presentation, community engagement or similar activities. Valid driver's license; this position requires the employee to drive University vehicles for travel.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree with one of the degrees in an applied health science field. Experience related to student recruitment, admission counseling or educational program development.

  • Must be comfortable with public speaking, including presenting to large groups.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 9/1/2024. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The salary range for this position is $40,000 to $60,000 with the final salary offer determined through a thorough assessment of these elements.
