JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Regulatory Certification Technician, you will be a member of Resideo's Global Regulatory Certification Team and be responsible for supporting our Life Safety and Security Certification programs and processes with our Agency Partners: UL, Intertek, A2LA, and others. As such, you will serve in a technical lead role supporting Regulatory Certification test activities, program development, improvement of product designs, systems, and/or processes.
In this position, you will be accountable for one or more certification projects at any given period. Responsibilities will also include supporting our Design Engineering teams through a \"Showing of Compliance\" consult process where the intention is to inform product development and validate the overall design in relation to relevant product safety compliance and certification requirements.
JOB DUTIES:
- Oversee Certification Agency Data Acceptance Programs (DAP) & Lab Accreditations to ensure compliance of the sites Quality Management System, Client Test Data reports, test equipment calibration, and Proficiency Test programs.
- Prepare and verify sample set ups for compliance testing at Agency or under the DAPs Certification and Accreditation programs.
- Support all Resideo Engineering teams during development of Value Engineering, Cost Engineering, and New Product Introduction to ensure compliance criteria are considered during each product development phase.
- Perform in-scope testing on Safety and Security products to applicable agency standards, including but not limited to fire room, smoke & CO, and correlation testing.
- Devise test plans, verify data collection and analysis, and prepare associated reports for testing & data acceptance.
- Design, build, and improve in-house testing procedures, fixtures, and test setups to ensure compliance with regulatory certification and accreditation requirements.
- Ensure LMS document control and compliance to ISO 17025 requirements through periodic internal audit activities and coordination of management review as needed.
- Ability to work flexibly at Intertek Lab for onsite testing as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, crouch and climb 6' ladder.
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers and reach.
- Regularly required to talk and listen.
- Ability to frequently lift to 50 lbs.
- Frequent exposure to repetitive and/or loud noises.
- Attention and strict adherence to safety protocols is essential in daily work due to the nature of the products being tested. (i.e. equipment which generates smoke and carbon monoxide particles, equipment and smoke alarms which contain radioactive materials.)
MUST HAVES:
- Associate's degree in a related field preferred OR 3+ years of applicable experience.
- 3+ years of experience in Safety and Security products testing & certification (Carbon Monoxide, Smoke, Correlation, Fire Room, Audible).
- Knowledgeable with Safety and Security products Regulatory and Agency requirements in all relevant national and international standards (UL/ULC/EN Standards).
- Skilled in the performance of risk assessment, in addition to ability to determine root cause and identify corrective actions in support of audit and proficiency test program findings.
- Proficient using soldering equipment and related tools for repairing or assembling electronics.
