JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary
The hands on Solutions Architect will be responsible for translating business opportunities into technical requirements and articulating/documenting the overall vision for an end-to-end solution. This role is an expansion to an existing team and will bridge A&H insurance lines of business with modern as well as legacy technologies byleading multiple design initiatives at any one time while working with developers, enterprise architects and engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Designing, modifying, and verifying software and system integration architecture
- Providing supervision and technical guidance to development teams
- Continuously researching current, emerging technologies, and proposing changes where needed
- Informing stakeholders about any issues with current technical solutions being implemented
- Assessing the business impact of technical choices and providing updates on solution development processes, costs, and budgets

- Excellent and displayable analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with vendors, clients, peers, and IT management
- Leadership abilities and the capacity to guide development teams
- In-depth understanding of coding languages, cloud, networks, security, operating systems, and databases
- Substantial knowledge of the software development life cycle and the Agile methodology
- Must be competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of a solution architecture design, using state of the art rule/framework-based architecture, object-oriented component analysis and proficiency in web-based systems architecture, service-based architecture and enterprise application architecture
- Ability to find creative and secure solutions with keen attention to detail
- Proficiency with diagraming tools and various documentation approaches
- Knowledge of design and implementation of solutions and systems using homegrown and off the shelf applications located in the cloud and on-premises
- Must be able to clearly communicate complex technical and business concepts both to business partners and team members

Education and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor's or post-graduate degree in IT, computer science or engineering, is preferred
- Professional certifications when combined with below experience requirements will be considered
- System and application program development technological alternatives and architecture methodologies for multi-platform (Mainframe, AS/400) environments
Experience:
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in at least 3 of the following: software development, systems engineering, software architecture design, on-cloud development, DevOps
