Job Description

The Technical Solutions Manager will oversee all technical support operations of the waste services facilities in the division. To ensure all employees and facilities are performing to the company policies and procedures and the appropriate laws/regulations that govern them. Oversee and provide technical support to internal and external customers.

Job Duties:
  • Plan, organize, direct and run day to day technical solutions in a way that meets or exceeds company, customer and regulatory expectations
  • Assist customer service and facilities with the classification of waste materials
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations and classifications
  • Strong understanding of RCRA regulations and classifications
  • Treat all customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Act as technical resource for customer service and operations.
  • Ability to read an interpret SDS sheets.
  • Review and assist with creation and movement of required waste profiles
  • Assist sales and operations with technical support for internal and 3rd party waste material management
  • Complete Certificates of disposal as required
  • Coordinate with receiving facilities to secure disposal parameters
  • Assist with discrepancies of incoming and outgoing materials
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by Supervisor
  • Assist operations in identifying potentially high hazard materials
  • Assist in the pre-screening of materials for GFL owned end disposal and 3rd party disposal facilities
  • Foster day to day relationships with internal and 3rd party vendors as well as customers internally and externally

Requirements
  • MUST have Environmental or Chemical Engineering Technician or Technologist or related Diploma
  • MUST have strong knowledge of RCRA and DOT regulations
  • Previous lab/technical experience is an asset
  • Competent computer skills (MS Windows and Office)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be motivated, able to multi-task, and work effectively in a team environment
  • Must be safety conscious and detail oriented
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to follow and aid in development/implementation new procedures with direct supervisor.
  • This position is mostly remote with occasional travel and visits to the office.
