What You Will Do

The Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer leads audits and performance evaluations at supplier sites to assess capabilities and guide sourcing and supplier selection. This role involves directing investigations, corrective actions, and cross-functional risk mitigation efforts. The Sr Supplier Quality Engineer must communicate effectively to ensure supplier compliance, create progress reports, and present findings to leadership team.   • Guide cross-functional teams to define quality criteria for supplier qualifications, ensuring compliance with product specs, technical requirements, and supplier deliverables.
  • Conduct on-site Quality Management Systems audits (ISO 9001 / IATF 16949) and supplier performance evaluations to ensure adherence to standards and procedures.
  • Perform on-site source inspections and review First Article Inspection (FAI) reports from suppliers.
  • Manage supplier performance through data analysis, escalation, escape management, supplier submission of non-conforming materials, and internal MRB process; develop contingency and improvement plans.
  • Use Scorecards and metrics to evaluate supplier performance and collaborate on improvement plans for achieving 100% quality.
  • Work cross-functionally to identify and mitigate part and supplier risks.
  • Advise suppliers on quality requirements for new and existing products, including First Article, PFMEA, PCN, and control plans.
  • Oversee the Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) process, from initiation to effectiveness review, using core and advanced tools like 8D, 5 Why, FMEA, and Ishikawa.
  • Investigate customer complaints related to supplier products and escalate issues as needed to minimize customer impact.
  • Lead supplier quality efforts in technical and cross-functional teams, prioritizing qualifications, corrective actions, and material investigations.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, including ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers and the company for quality issues, leading supplier development initiatives.
  • Operate independently and build cross-functional relationships, while also training Supplier Quality Engineers in quality methodologies and tools.
What You Will Bring
  • Required Degree: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, or Math.
  • Required Experience: 6+ years experience in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Management, or related experience.
  • Experience with supply chain management and supplier engagement.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards, 8S, 5 why, Ishikawa, and control plans.
  • Corrective action experience.
  • Change management experience.
  • Ability to analyze data and display visually.
  • Experience working collaboratively in team environment and representing company to suppliers.
  • Strong communication skills; capable of working through complex issues with peers and leadership across multiple functions.
  • Advanced knowledge of Root Cause Corrective Action process and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Quality Management Systems and industry standards (ISO 9001 / IATF 16949).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical drawings, engineering specifications and requirements for components or assemblies.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Manager, Quality Engineer, Quality Systems Lead Auditor, or related quality/regulatory certifications a plus.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems - Oracle a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
