Deloitte Risk & Financial Advisory Analyst – Mergers & Acquisitions Analytics

Do you have your finger on the pulse of the vast, fast paced, and ever-changing deal environment? Have a passion for current trends in accounting and finance? As an Analyst in the M&A group at Deloitte, you’ll be part of a national team that is the recognized marketplace leader among large professional services firms in providing merger, acquisition, and divestiture services to corporate strategic buyers and private equity investors. You will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside leading accounting and finance leaders in addressing the full range of deal execution issues, including due diligence, tax and accounting structuring, merger integration and post transaction considerations. Our multi-disciplinary approach combines M&A, industry and other function specialists to provide fact-based answers and objective feedback geared to minimizing risk and increasing returns.

Work you’ll do

Deloitte Risk & Financial Advisory M&A professionals are skilled at providing advice and recommendations to clients in addition to developing and deploying leading technology and analytics-enabled solutions to solve their most pressing transaction challenges as it relates to risk and trust.

Specific areas of work could include:

+ Perform data-driven tests and reconciliations to evaluate compliance with regulatory and financial reporting requirements

+ Coordinate with FP&A and Strategic Finance personnel to identify, collect and validate data from client databases

+ Analyze financial & key performance indicator deal data for trends and outliers

+ Identify opportunities to design and develop visualizations and dashboards that enable effective and repeatable analysis of large transactional datasets

+ Deliver actionable insights through the use of data visualization to assist our clients in making sound business decisions

Regardless of project type, your work may require:

+ Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills essential to interacting with clients and teams

+ Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects/assignments/ responsibilities in a fast-paced environment

+ Problem solving and critical thinking skills in support of both innovative and operational enhancement opportunities

+ Ability to collaborate and communicate across Deloitte team members and client stakeholders

+ Ability to identify, learn, understand, and implement new concepts, frameworks and emerging technologies

+ Ability to manage own personal and professional development; seek opportunities for professional growth and expansion of consulting skills and experience

+ A strong understanding of Windows Based systems and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

+ Proficiency in scripting languages and data visualization platforms

+ Understanding of the data lifecycle and solutions development lifecycle in order help our clients understand their data and develop actionable solutions to manage it

+ Ability to work with and managing data sets, including extraction and merges from source systems, transformation, and providing preliminary descriptive analytics

+ Ability to identify, learn, understand, and implement new analytics concepts and data management frameworks

Qualifications

Required:

+ Bachelor or Master’s degree in one or more of the following majors with relevant analytics or data management focused coursework:

+ Technology: Data Analytics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems

+ Business: Accounting, Economics, Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics

+ Math/Engineering: Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics

+ Strong academic track record with extracurricular activities (cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above)

+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

+ Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

+ Our current work environment is a hybrid approach which means

+ You should reside within a commutable distance of your assigned office with the ability to commute daily, if required

+ You can expect to be co-located on average 30-50% a week with variations based on types of work/projects and client locations

Preferred:

+ Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above

+ Relevant work experience or work experience in a professional environment (e.g. internships, summer positions, school jobs)

+ Demonstrated recent leadership, such as in a campus club, society, sports teams or other activity

+ Demonstrated recent social impact or volunteer activity

+ Familiarity with a variety of analytics tools and programming languages such as, but not limited to:

+ Foundational capabilities:

+ Data Visualization Tools: Tableau, Power Bi, QlikView

+ Data Management: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Mongo Db

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current wage is $85,000.
